Instructions for Baked red onion luxury version

To prepare the Baked red onion luxury version recipe, please follow these instructions:

The red onion is peeled and halved, then only slightly acorned so much of the root end that the layers of the loaf still hang together. The half onion is laid in a refractory dish on the flat side, where the bottom is covered with olive oil. Crushed gooseberries (ca10stk) and bay leaves (ca6stk) are distributed between the half onions. It's all sprinkled with sherry.
Cane sugar can be sprinkled over half the onions. If you want a little more "Christmas" flavor, sprinkle a little cinnamon over the bulbs together with cane sugar.
The refractory dish is covered with staniol pressed all the way down to the onions and put in a preheated oven for 20-25 minutes by 200 degrees. When the time has elapsed, remove staniol and the onions carefully gently turn into the layer that is now in the refractory dish, and then lie back on the flat side again. Then they are baked for about 15 minutes so the team is celebrating and served immediately.

tips:
This recipe is ripped from the English food program River Cottage. But they simply taste so good that I have to share it. I think it's best to use a nice medium sized onion. Large onions give longer baking time and small ones become difficult to control when turning. Perfect for good roast and steaks ... Enjoy
